Dr. Dirk Vantyghem
Director General – EURATEX
Dr. Dirk Vantyghem joined EURATEX as Director General in September 2019, representing the interests of over 200,000 European companies in the textiles and clothing industry. These enterprises collectively generate a joint turnover of approximately €170 billion and employ 1.2 million workers across the continent.
His mandate is to promote a competitive, sustainable, and innovative European Textiles and Clothing industry. EURATEX’s work under his leadership focuses primarily on shaping the EU policy framework for the textile industry within a global context, ensuring the sector remains a vital part of the European economy.
Prior to joining EURATEX, he worked for EUROCHAMBRES, the European Chamber of Commerce lobby. Dirk has a strong economic background and holds a Master’s degree from the prestigious College of Europe in Bruges.
